Endoscopic discectomy, also called percutaneous endoscopic discectomy, is a minimally invasive surgery procedure used to remove material from a herniated disc or bulging disc that is pressing on a nerve root or on the spinal cord. An endoscope is a tiny camera at the end of a flexible tube that can be inserted into the body through a tube introduced via a small incision. This procedure can be used to treat degenerative disc disease, a herniated disc, bulging disc, pinched nerve, and sciatica. During the procedure the surgeon uses X-ray monitoring and fiber optics to see what is pressing on the nerve, and uses small instruments and sometimes a laser to remove disc material impinging on the nerve
Endoscopic Spine Surgery
Endoscopic spine surgery, a minimally invasive spine surgery technique is employed to treat a variety of spinal conditions and disorders. In these procedures, tissue and material is removed, reducing the pressure exerted on affected nerve roots. These procedures include lumbar endoscopic discectomy and cervical endoscopic discectomy for bulging disc, herniated disc and radiculopathy. The decision on which treatment is most appropriate should be made only after careful evaluation by a qualified spinal specialist, accompanied by MRI, X-ray, CAT Scans and other imaging techniques.
